Semporna Macro Dive

RM 480.00/pax

3 DIVES PER DAY (Each Dive around 60 mins)

Duration: 1 Day

Prerequisites: Open Water Diver with good buoyancy

Ratio: 1 dive guide to maximum 3 divers (Small Group)

ABOUT

Semporna’s macro dive sites, particularly around the renowned islands, are a world-class haven for muck diving enthusiasts and underwater photographers. Unlike the dramatic drop-offs and deep walls found near Sipadan, these sites are characterized by gentle, shallow sand slopes, sea grass beds, and scattered patch reefs. This calm, low-energy environment provides the perfect ecosystem for an astonishing array of rare, miniature marine life. Divers can spend hours slowly scanning the sandy bottom and artificial reef structures to discover incredibly camouflaged critters, including various species of nudibranchs, flamboyant cuttlefish, blue-ringed octopuses, and robust ghost pipefish.

The allure of these macro dives lies in their meditative, slow-paced nature, offering an entirely different kind of thrill from chasing large pelagics. Navigating through sites requires keen eyes and excellent buoyancy, rewarded by encounters with bizarre creatures like frogfish, nudibranch, flat worms, and minuscule hairy shrimps. The excellent visibility in these shallow, sunlit waters enhances the vibrant colors of these tiny organisms, making every dive a detailed treasure hunt that beautifully complements the big-fish action of the surrounding Celebes Sea.

  • All diving guests are required to sign a self-declaration medical form. If you are taking part in a diving course on-board, you are required to sign a medical form prior to starting the course.

If you have, or think you have, any of the medical conditions listed, you will need signed clearance from a doctor valid within 6 months of your planned trip. • To enroll in our standard Fun Dive packages, divers must meet at least one of the following criteria: Have at least one logged dive within the past 12 months, or have a proven logbook showing over 100 logged dives completed within the past 2 years. Participants who do not meet these experience thresholds are required to undergo a mandatory Refresher Course on their first day at their own expense.
